FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?

Individual 50-minute therapy session: $125

Couples 50-minute therapy session: $175

I accept credit and debit cards (including HSA/FSA cards). Payment is due at the start of each session.

A sliding scale fee may be available, please inquire for more information.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

As with many therapists in the Rochester, NY area, I do not accept insurance. By requiring a mental health diagnosis, working with insurance companies can break client patient confidentiality and also inaccurately label someone with a disorder when they may just be seeking help for the normal ups and downs of life.

I am considered “out-of-network.” Insurance companies may provide partial reimbursement for out-of-network providers. I’m happy to help you with this process by providing the necessary information for you to submit to your insurance company.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?

I offer sessions based on availability Monday - Thursday, 9 am - 5 pm and on Fridays from 8 am - 3 pm. I will work with you to develop a convenient and effective counseling schedule.

DO YOU OFFER VIDEO COUNSELING?

Yes! I offer video sessions via Zoom.

WHAT TYPES OF ISSUES DO YOU WORK WITH AS A THERAPIST?

Here is just a short list of topics I’ve addressed with individuals, couples and families in therapy: anxiety, depression, interpersonal and familial conflict, marital and pre-marital counseling, couples counseling, divorce, infidelity, pregnancy support, prenatal and postpartum issues, parenting concerns, adolescent/teen issues, bullying, gender and sexuality issues, stress and career counseling. IS THERAPY CONFIDENTIAL?

The law protects the relationship between a client and therapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission. There are a few exceptions to this.

These exceptions include:

  • Suspected child, dependent adult, or elder abuse.

  • If you threaten serious bodily harm to another, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.

  • If you intend to harm yourself, I will make every effort to enlist your cooperation in ensuring your safety. If you are unable or unwilling to cooperate, it is my professional obligation to take further measures to ensure your safety.

GETTING STARTED

Visit my CONTACT page to get in touch. We’ll talk briefly about your needs, what you can expect and decide if we’re a good fit. From there, we’ll set up an intake session at a mutually convenient time. All sessions are one hour long.

Upon scheduling, I will send you a link to my online patient portal, Simple Practice. You’ll be guided through straight forward intake paperwork that will automatically be sent back to me. You can opt to receive text or email appointment reminders through the portal. The Simple Practice paperwork must be completed prior to our first session.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Therapy is a mutual commitment between you and I. If you cannot make an appointment, please let me know as soon as possible. Cancellations with less than 24 hour notice will be charged the full session fee. If you no-show appointments, I may opt not to reschedule sessions for a future date.
